THE ARCHER FAMILY CEMETERY
GRAVE SITE OF JONATHAN M. ARCHER AND DELILIA OVERFELT, AND SEVEN OTHERS
UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME IN MACON CO. TENNESSEE
The site of the ARCHER FAMILY CEMETERY, is 1200 feet from the Kentucky state line.
It is in the middle of a tobacco patch with 3 trees around it.
It is about 200 feet from where their old log cabin once stood.
Rumor has it that he was killed by lightening as he was walking along the road about 2 or 3 miles from his home.
The grave stone is broken in half but Truman could still make out the name
and dates.
A man who owned the farm years ago, remembers 8 graves being in that spot.
Research and pictures were submitted by Shirley Knowles and Truman U.
Gregory
The above photos are of BEFORE the cemetery was cleaned.
Truman sprayed the weeds in September to kill them and in October he went in to
rake the dead weeds and place grade stakes at the head and foot of each of the 9
graves.
So the page will load faster due the number of photos, I'm using a second page for the AFTER photos which can be seen if you click
