He md. Margaret Ann Cooks/Cokus/Cookes 1 or 18 Feb 1822, OH ; d. 28 Feb 1893. Both are buried in the Archer's Chapel Cemetery in Tyler Co, WV. Neil was buried there as the first burial because he was the only member of this family to fight on the Union side during the Civil War causing strife with his brother William who fought on the Confederate side. Neil asked his wife not to bury him in the same cemetery, the "Polly Archer" cemetery just below Archer's Chapel, where his brother, William was buried. His brothers, Arthur and William fought in the Confederate Army. Note that Neil's ancestry is of Michael of Patrick, one Patrick's five sons. Michael (of Patrick) was killed by Indians before 9 Sep 1786. His son, Joseph b. 1781 in Washington Co., PA married Sarah Wells 8 Sep 1801 in Washington Co., OHIO and then took his bride to Tyler Co., (W) VA. where he died 8 Aug 1855. This branch of Patrick's descendants have remained in Tyler Co., WV since that time.] |
