[GWA comment: See Frederick Archer, below which appears to be a duplicate record on the same man. There was a man named Fred Archer b. c. 1875, living in Baton Rouge, LA, son of Charles Frederick Archer b. Aug/Dec 1843, Tolbert Co, GA, d. 21 Nov 1914 and mother, Monita Heik/Heck from Melville, LA. The similarity in first and middle names, dates of birth of and location in Louisiana for both men suggest that this Fred is the son of Charles Frederick. Fred md. [GWA comment: I have reviewed his pension file personally. There is no evidence that he was married, and the file contains insufficient evidence to identify his ancestry at this point. Nor was there sufficient information to link him to any one in my data. He lived in the following locations: 1872-1879 Marquette, MI; 1882-1885, Seneca, Nemaha Co, KS; 1893-1901 Los Angeles, CA. He was b. c. 1830 and died 23 Nov1901 in the Western Branch Military Home, Los Angeles, CA. The file contains a letter dated 28 Sep 1918 from G.M. Saltzgaber, Commissioner of Censions to Mrs. David Archer, of Huntsville, OH asking for details to substantiate her claim for her husband's pension.

[GWA comment: There is an unproven circumstantial ancestry that Dickerson was the son of Michael Archer (Joseph?, Patrick?) and named for his mother's maiden name, Cynthia Dickerson, daughter of Kinsey Dickerson.
Michael was in Guernsey Co. (then Muskingum) and appears in a deed with wife  Cynthia in 1819 and was in Salem Twp, Monroe Co, 1839-1850 but seems to have died or disappeared by 1848 and Cynthia herself died. 3 Jul 1851 and she is buried the Clarington Cem, Monroe Co., OH. Michael's burial place is unknown.
The odd thing about Dickerson being a descendant of Joseph (of Patrick) that all of Joseph's) known children moved with Joseph from Guernsey Co., to Richland Co., OH where Joseph died, and his heirs moved on to other parts in Wood and Hancock Cos, OH and Marion Co., IN. Micheal, Dickerson's father, apparently never left Monroe Co. but was he a son of Joseph (of Patrick?)
Dickerson/Dickenson Archer b. c. 1818-1827, OH md. Eliza Berlt in 1850 b. Apr 1832, Germany ; d. 10 Jul 1869 and she is buried in the Clarington Cem, Monroe Co., OH. Dickerson's ancestry is somewhat cloudy but the presence of Cynthia seems to support the theory that his father was Michael.
In the 1850 Salem, Twp, Monroe Co, Twp , 7 Sep 1850 : 116/116 Dickerson Archer 23 boatman b. unk Eliza Archer 18 b. German Cynthia Archer 50, b. VA
There were two listings (double counting) for the family in the 1860 US Census in Clarington, Monroe Co., OH on 17 Jul p. 110: 742/742: Dickson Archer 35, Eliza 28, Mary J. 8, Alice 3 and on 18 Jul p. 117: 11801/801 Dickerson Archer 32, Elisa 27, Mary P 8, Alice G. All but Elisa b. OH and neither Dickerson nor Elisa can read or write.
Dickerson probably died in the Civil war as there is a garbled death notice reprinted in a historical listing of Civil War dead: Corp. Dieerson Archer, Co. D., 116th OVI killed in the battle of Stickney Farm. (Monroe Co. Beacon, Woodsfield, OH 9 May 1974. Eliza filed her pension application 11 Nov 1864 shortly after the Civil War and probably remarried someone called _____ Tyler by 1869 and her child was then eligible for pension relief by 1869. The family disappears from view by the 1870 but perhaps the 1870 Monroe Co., OH will reveal an Eliza in a household as wife of a ____ Tyler. Dickerson's descendants through the famales were living in Monroe Co., in the 1960's.]
